Job summary

Humana Inc. is seeking a Senior Platform Engineer to keep the NBA platform healthy and maintainable. You will work across Java, Node.js/TypeScript, Python, and SQL, improving reliability, observability, and performance while implementing focused features.

You’ll operate in a remote/hybrid role with potential travel for training and meetings, keep systems scalable, and contribute to incident response and architectural improvements supporting regulated healthcare data.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering experience building and operating production systems.
• Ability to read, debug, and extend Java, Node.js/TypeScript, Python, and SQL code.
• Strong understanding of APIs, event-driven patterns, async processing, and failure handling.
• Experience with observability: logging, metrics, tracing, and alerting.
• Cloud infrastructure experience (Azure or equivalent) with containers/Kubernetes and CI/CD.
• Maintenance‑and‑reliability mindset and well‑documented code.
• Clear communicator who can explain complex systems to engineers and non‑engineers.

Responsibilities

• Cross-Stack Maintenance — Maintain and support services across the full platform.
• Reliability Engineering — Monitor health, investigate issues, and resolve bottlenecks.
• Feature Implementation — Design and ship focused features across platform components.
• Observability — Extend logging, metrics, tracing, and alerting for production visibility.
• Performance and scale — Profile and tune components under load for scalable growth.
• Quality — Write tests, review code, and uphold engineering standards.
• Incident response — Participate in on‑call rotation and root‑cause analysis.
• Collaboration — Work with delivery pods and Decision Intelligence on long‑term ownership.
