Job summary

Humana Inc. seeks a Senior Platform Engineer to keep the NBA platform healthy, reliable, and scalable. You will work across Java, Node.js, Python, and SQL, ensuring performance and maintainability of the full stack, from data pipelines to frontend actions.

You’ll improve observability, participate in on-call incident response, and collaborate with delivery teams to own long-term reliability. Remote/hybrid with occasional travel may be required.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering experience in production systems.
• Proficient with multi-language codebases (Java, Node.js/TS, Python, SQL).
• Strong understanding of distributed systems and failure handling.
• Hands-on observability including logging, metrics, tracing, and alerting.
• Experience with cloud infrastructure (Azure or similar) and containers/Kubernetes.
• Maintenance-and-reliability mindset with well-documented code.
• Clear communicator across engineers and non-engineers.

Responsibilities

• Cross-stack maintenance across the full platform and components.
• Monitor health, investigate production issues, resolve bottlenecks and scale constraints.
• Design and ship focused features and improvements for platform components.
• Extend logging, metrics, tracing, and alerting for visibility.
• Profile and tune components under load for reliability and scale.
• Write tests, participate in code reviews, uphold engineering standards.
• Participate in on-call rotation and root-cause analysis.
• Collaborate with delivery pods and Decision Intelligence for long-term ownership.
