Job summary

General Motors is seeking a Senior Platform Engineer to join the AV Cloud Engineering team within AV Core Infrastructure. You will build and evolve internal platform capabilities, enabling AV engineers to run workloads with minimal friction in a hybrid Austin/Sunnyvale environment.

You will design abstractions for GPUs, improve service mesh and runtime configuration, own complex platform initiatives, and mentor colleagues while shaping a resilient, observable platform that powers autonomous

Qualifications

• 5+ years coordinating across teams and executives to drive technical strategy.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
• Hands-on Kubernetes production experience with a major cloud (GCP/AWS/Azure).
• Strong Go or Python software engineering skills and automation building.
• Experience designing and operating large-scale HA distributed systems.

Responsibilities

• Build and evolve platform capabilities, self-service workflows, APIs, and automation.
• Design abstractions for complex infra including GPUs for AV workloads.
• Improve platform primitives for traffic, service mesh, config, and connectivity.
• Reduce toil via reusable tooling, declarative automation, and observability.
• Own complex platform initiatives from problem to adoption.
• Collaborate with adjacent teams to reduce friction and improve reliability.
• Contribute to engineering culture through design reviews and mentorship.
