Job summary

General Motors is seeking a Senior Capacity Engineer to join the AV Capacity and Performance Engineering team within the AV Infrastructure organization. The role focuses on capacity planning, ML infrastructure strategy, and optimizing cloud budgets for GM’s autonomous vehicle initiatives.

You will develop capacity models, build analytical tools, and collaborate with AI/ML teams, infrastructure teams, and cloud vendors to drive efficiency and performance improvements.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of relevant work experience.
• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field or relevant work experience.
• Proficient in Python.
• Proficient in BI platforms.
• Experience with data modeling and working with SQL on large datasets such as BigQuery.
• Good understanding of distributed systems including modern ML system architecture and design.

Responsibilities

• Develop and refine technical models for capacity planning for GM’s AV infrastructure.
• Design and build automated analytical tools for monitoring capacity and demand signals.
• Partner with AI/ML engineering, infrastructure engineering, and cloud vendors to proactively identify and drive optimization projects to increase engineering and cost efficiencies
