Job summary

Elastic, the Search AI Company, is hiring a Senior Software Engineer to join the Billing Experience team. You will own key billing APIs and build full-stack features in Elastic Cloud consoles, collaborating with Product, Design, SRE, and Cloud Infrastructure teams.

You will mentor junior engineers, contribute to API design, and help raise engineering quality. This role supports a distributed, global environment with on-call rotations and production readiness responsibilities.

Qualifications

5+ years in backend or full-stack engineering, with API experience.
Experience with customer-facing or developer-facing products at scale.
Solid understanding of distributed systems and reliability at scale.
Cloud infrastructure knowledge (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
Frontend tech experience a plus (React or similar).

Responsibilities

Own and improve public and internal billing APIs with focus on reliability and DX.
Design and build full-stack features in Cloud consoles (backend, billing UI).
Lead small to medium projects end-to-end within the team.
Contribute to API design decisions: versioning, contracts, consistency.
Improve observability and reliability of billing services via monitoring and incident response.
Participate in code and design reviews; be a trusted reviewer.
Mentor junior engineers through feedback and design discussions.
Collaborate with Product and Tech Leads to shape priorities and direction.
Take part in on-call rotations and production readiness.
