Job summary

Elasticsearch B.V. is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for the Billing Experience team. You will own key billing APIs and console features, design full-stack solutions, and drive end-to-end projects with collaboration across Product, Design, SRE, and Cloud Infrastructure.

This role emphasizes reliability, scalability, and developer experience. The ideal candidate has 5+ years in backend or full-stack engineering, experience with APIs at scale, and strong distributed systems knowledge.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of backend or full-stack engineering
• Experience building customer-facing or developer-facing APIs at scale
• Solid understanding of distributed systems and reliability
• Background in cloud (AWS, GCP, or Azure)
• Frontend experience with dashboards/console products is a plus (React)
• Strong judgment in technical trade-offs and ambiguity
• Good communication skills
• Experience with SaaS billing, metering, or financial systems is a plus
• Ability to work in a global, distributed, async environment
• Track record of using AI to speed up development and improve code quality

Responsibilities

• Own and improve public and internal billing APIs with focus on reliability and developer experience
• Design and build full-stack features in Elastic Cloud consoles
• Lead small to medium projects end-to-end
• Contribute to API design decisions (versioning, contracts)
• Improve observability and reliability of billing services
• Participate in code and design reviews
• Mentor junior engineers through feedback and pairing
• Collaborate with Product and Tech Leads on priorities and direction
• Participate in on-call rotations and production readiness
