Job summary

Sargent & Lundy seeks a senior piping engineer to provide technical direction on complex piping analyses and project deliverables within the Nuclear Power Group. Hybrid schedule; in-office 3 days weekly, coordinating with multi-disciplinary teams.

Requires PE license, ABET-echo degree, 10+ years, and strong knowledge of ASME B31.1 and B&PV, pipe supports, and piping products; strong communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

• This position requires a BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program with emphasis in solid mechanics/structural analysis.
• P.E. license and 10+ years of relevant experience are required.
• Extensive knowledge of ASME B31.1 and ASME B&PV Section III piping codes is essential.
• Familiarity with pipe supporting elements and piping products is expected.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills are required.

Responsibilities

• Reviews complex calculations and approves simpler analyses, guiding project teams.
• Approves system/structural designs and reviews major specifications for completeness and operability.
• Performs engineering reviews of drawings and coordinates interfaces between design and engineering.
• Prepares and reviews major installation and material specifications and vendor submittals.
• Prepares bid evaluations and participates in change-order negotiations.
• Prepares and reviews interdisciplinary reports to ensure clear, cost-effective conclusions.
