Job summary

Sargent & Lundy in Richland, WA seeks a Piping Engineer to perform senior‑level analyses and designs for piping systems per ASME B31.1 and ASME BPV Section III. The role emphasizes solid mechanics, finite element analysis, pipe supports, and CAD interface, with a hybrid schedule requiring three days in the office.

You will prepare calculations, P&IDs input, equipment specs, bid evaluations, and reports, while guiding junior staff and communicating with clients.

Qualifications

• BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering or related ABET‑accredited program.
• 5+ years of relevant piping engineering experience.
• Knowledge of ASME B31.1 and ASME B&PV Section III piping codes.
• Knowledge of pipe supporting elements and piping products.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepares and reviews complex calculations.
• Reviews simple system/structural designs and prepares complex system designs.
• Prepares input for P&IDs and Master Diagrams; reviews drawings.
• Prepares and reviews equipment and material specifications.
• Prepares bid evaluations and supports data from vendors.
• Prepares and reviews reports/studies.
• Develops budgets, schedules, and work plans; monitors progress.
• Communicates technical information clearly to project teams and clients.
