Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking a Senior Piping Engineer to perform advanced calculations and designs for piping systems per ASME B31.1 and B&PV Section III. The role includes preparing input for drawings, equipment specs, bid evaluations, and economic analyses while mentoring staff. Hybrid schedule with in-office work three days per week.

The candidate should have a BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering (ABET) and 5+ years of relevant experience, plus strong communication skills. P.E.

Qualifications

• BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Mechanics, Aerospace, or Structural/Civil Engineering, ABET-accredited, with emphasis in solid mechanics and FE analysis
• 5+ years of relevant experience
• Knowledge of ASME B31.1 and ASME B&PV Section III piping codes
• Knowledge of design and application of pipe supporting elements
• Ability to read and interpret piping system drawings and specifications
• Strong written and verbal communication skills

Responsibilities

• Prepare and review complex calculations and designs
• Review simple to complex system/structural designs
• Prepare input for P&IDs and Master Diagrams; review input
• Prepare equipment and material specifications
• Prepare bid evaluations and economic calculations
• Prepare and review reports and studies
• Develop project budgets and schedules; monitor progress
• Provide input to proposals and communicate with client teams
