Job summary

WSP USA Inc is seeking a Senior Pipeline Engineer to work from our Chicago office. The role involves pipeline design across the lifecycle, including planning, FEED, routing, permitting, detail design, procurement, construction, and decommissioning, with collaboration across global teams.

The ideal candidate has 5–7 years of pipeline experience, EIT (PE preferred), and strong knowledge of design codes and software.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Chemical, or Civil Engineering from ABET-accredited program.
• 5–7 years of pipeline design experience, consulting or operating company.
• EIT certification; PE preferred.
• Knowledge of liquids/gas design codes: 49 CFR Part 192/195, ASME B31.4/31.8, AWWA M11.
• Familiar with Pipeline Toolbox, AutoPIPE/CAESAR II, PipeFLO, AFT Impulse.
• Strong communication, teamwork, and client-facing skills.
• Willingness to travel up to 25%.

Responsibilities

• Safely perform field and office work, operating company vehicles as needed.
• Design pipelines across lifecycle: planning, FEED, routing, permitting, detail design, procurement, construction, decommissioning.
• Provide routing studies, stress analysis, and mechanical design for liquid, gas, or slurry pipelines.
• Coordinate field investigations and survey work for pipelines.
• Support right-of-way acquisitions with engineering and survey services.
• Prepare funding documents: cost estimates, bid summaries, authorization requests.
• Deliver project management and maintain client relationships across projects.
• Assist in permit applications and client communications.
