Job summary

WSP USA Inc is seeking a Senior Pipeline Engineer to work from our Chicago, IL office with consideration for other listed locations in the U.S. The role involves leading pipeline design projects across the lifecycle, with travel up to 25% to client sites and field investigations.

The ideal candidate has 5–7 years of pipeline design experience, an EIT, and knowledge of USDOT/ASME codes. PE is preferred and the role offers collaboration with global engineering teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Chemical, or Civil Engineering from ABET-accredited institution.
• Minimum 5-7 years pipeline design experience in consulting or operating company settings.
• Registration as an Engineer in Training (EIT); PE preferred.
• Knowledge of liquids and gas design codes including 49 CFR Part 192/195, ASME B31.4/B31.8, AWWA M11.

Responsibilities

• Design pipelines across lifecycle: planning, FEED, routing, permitting, detail design, procurement, construction, and deactivation.
• Provide routing studies, stress analysis, and mechanical design for liquid, gas, and slurry pipelines.
• Coordinate field investigations, surveys, and utility/delineation work for design support.
• Prepare cost estimates, bid summaries, and authorization requests.
• Support client interaction, progress reports, and document reviews.
