Job summary

Intuit, Inc. is seeking a Senior Payroll Tax SME to lead complex state and federal tax defect resolution for payroll notices, amendments, and corrections. This role focuses on solving hard tax issues, coaching staff, and improving processes while supporting SelectTime services.

The position is hourly, non-exempt with flexible hours, offering 20–40 hours weekly and potential overtime. Strong Excel, SAP-like familiarity, and CPP/EA preferred; remote work from the US is supported.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of payroll tax experience with focus on tax defect resolution across multiple states.
• Expert knowledge of State and Federal payroll tax notice types and ability to draft penalty abatements and agency responses.

Responsibilities

• Resolve complex State and Federal payroll tax notices; manage multi-quarter/state cases end-to-end.
• Prepare and file amended Federal and State payroll tax returns (Form 941-X, W-2c) across 10+ states.
• Diagnose payroll tax errors spanning multiple periods and jurisdictions; drive correction workflows to resolution.
• Maintain high productivity in resolving Corrections, Amendments, and Notices with high accuracy.
• Monitor WIP, identify aging cases, and propose resolutions to leadership.
• Serve as real-time resource for Senior Payroll Tax Processors; coach and transfer knowledge.
• Conduct structured coaching sessions quarterly using SBIC feedback model.
• Contribute to team huddles, QA sessions, and process improvement meetings.
• Author and review SOPs and KB articles; identify recurring errors and propose fixes.
• Identify trends and compliance issues; communicate findings and drive implementation.
• Support cross-functional collaboration with Corrections, Amendments, Pay & File, and Tax Notice teams.
