Job summary

Intuit, Inc. is seeking a Senior Payroll Tax Expert and SME on the Payroll Tax Operations team to own complex state and federal notices, amendments, and corrections. This role leads the queue, mentors junior staff, and drives end-to-end resolution.

You will file amended returns (941-X and state equivalents), coordinate across Corrections and Tax Notice teams, and develop SOPs and KBs to scale expertise. A CPP/EA or equivalent is encouraged, with strong Excel and tax knowledge.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of payroll tax experience focused on tax defect resolution for notices, amended returns, and error correction across multiple states.
• Expert knowledge of state and federal payroll tax notice types; ability to draft penalty abatement requests and agency responses.

Responsibilities

• Resolve complex state and federal payroll tax notices across multiple quarters and states, owning the full lifecycle from intake to closure.
• Prepare and file amended Federal and State payroll tax returns (Form 941-X and state equivalents) across 10+ states.
• Diagnose and resolve payroll tax errors spanning multiple pay periods or jurisdictions and drive complete correction workflows.
• Monitor WIP and identify aging cases; provide root-cause analysis and resolutions to blockers.
• Serve as real-time resource for senior processors; coach and transfer knowledge to build team capability.
• Conduct structured coaching sessions with team members using SBIC feedback model.
• Contribute to team huddles, QA sessions, and process improvements; author SOPs and KBs.
• Identify trends and emerging compliance issues; communicate findings with recommended actions.
