The Staff Payroll Tax Processor will lead complex cases, coach peers, and drive process improvements while not running day-to-day payroll. The role emphasizes tax defect resolution, filing amended returns, and cross-state compliance, with a flexible, remote work arrangement through SelectTime.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of payroll tax experience with a focus on tax defect resolution for notices, amended returns, and corrections.
• Expert knowledge of State and Federal payroll tax notice types and ability to draft penalty abatement requests and agency responses.
• Hands-on experience preparing amended Federal and State payroll tax returns (Form 941-X, W-2c) across multiple states.

Responsibilities

• Resolve the most complex State and Federal payroll tax notices across multiple states and quarters.
• Prepare and file amended Federal and State payroll tax returns (Form 941-X, W-2c) end-to-end across 10+ states.
• Diagnose and resolve payroll tax errors spanning multiple pay periods or jurisdictions.
• Maintain high productivity in resolving Corrections, Amendments, and Notice resolutions with accuracy.
• Monitor WIP, identify aging cases and blockers, and propose resolutions with root-cause analysis.
