Intuit, Inc. seeks a Staff Payroll Tax Processor/Senior SME to lead end-to-end resolution of payroll tax issues across notices, corrections and amendments.

This role focuses on tax defect resolution and process improvement within a fast-paced environment. The position involves mentoring junior staff, drafting agency responses, and coordinating with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate tax filings and timely resolutions.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of payroll tax experience focused on tax defect resolution for notices, amended returns, and corrections across multiple states.
• Expert knowledge of state and federal payroll tax notice types and ability to draft penalty abatement requests with supporting docs.
• Hands-on experience preparing amended Federal (941-X) and State payroll tax returns, incl. complex local requirements.

Responsibilities

• Resolve the most complex state and federal payroll tax notices in the queue, owning full case lifecycle from intake to closure.
• Prepare and file amended Federal and State payroll tax returns across 10+ states end-to-end, incl. W-2c and SSA reconciliation.
• Diagnose and resolve payroll tax errors across multiple pay periods or jurisdictions; trace to payroll run and drive correction workflow.
• Maintain high productivity in resolving Correction, Amendment, and Notice requests with high accuracy.
• Monitor WIP, identify aging cases and blockers; propose resolutions with root-cause analysis.
