Job summary

Intuit is seeking a Staff Payroll Tax Processor to serve as a senior payroll tax expert and SME, owning the most complex notices, corrections, and amendments. You will lead the team technically and mentor others while handling the toughest cases end-to-end.

This virtual, hourly role offers flexible hours with overtime eligibility and demands multi-state expertise, Form 941-X, and penalty abatement governance.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of payroll tax experience across multiple states.
• Expert knowledge of state and federal payroll tax notices; ability to draft penalty abatement requests and agency responses.
• Experience preparing amended Federal (Form 941-X) and State payroll tax returns across multiple states.
• Advanced Excel skills for reconciliation and audit trails.

Responsibilities

• Resolve the most complex payroll tax notices across state and federal levels, owning the full case lifecycle.
• Prepare and file amended Federal and State payroll tax returns (941-X and state equivalents) across 10+ states.
• Diagnose and resolve payroll tax errors spanning multiple pay periods or jurisdictions; drive correction workflows.
• Coach and mentor Senior Payroll Tax Processors and lead knowledge sharing within the team.
• Identify trends and communicate findings with recommended resolutions to stakeholders.
