Job summary

Intuit, Inc. is seeking a senior Staff Payroll Tax Processor to lead complex state and federal payroll tax defect resolution. This role focuses on notices, amendments, and corrections, serving as a SME and coaching junior staff while ensuring accurate end-to-end case resolution.

The position emphasizes process improvement, cross-functional collaboration, and the ability to train teammates through structured coaching and SOP development. Remote, hourly, with potential overtime.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of payroll tax experience with focus on tax defect resolution across multiple states.
• Expert knowledge of State and Federal payroll tax notice types and ability to draft penalty abatement requests and agency responses.
• Experience preparing amended Federal and State payroll tax returns (Form 941-X, W-2c) across multiple states.
• Strong knowledge of federal payroll tax law (FICA, FUTA, FITW) and multi-state compliance.
• Lead or SME experience with coaching junior staff and creating SOPs/KB articles.

Responsibilities

• Resolve complex State and Federal payroll tax notices and multi-state scenarios, owning full case lifecycle.
• Prepare and file amended Federal/State payroll tax returns across multiple states end-to-end.
• Diagnose payroll tax errors across pay periods and jurisdictions; drive correction workflows.
• Coach and mentor team members; lead knowledge transfer and process improvements.
• Collaborate with related teams to resolve interconnected payroll tax issues end-to-end.
