Intuit in Tampa, FL is seeking a Lead Tax Processor and Subject Matter Expert (Level X5) to guide Payroll Tax Operations. You will own the most complex escalations and serve as the primary resource for the team, driving SOP governance and structured coaching.

This role emphasizes leadership, compliance, and cross-functional collaboration, with responsibility for resolving notices, approving amendments, and building workforce capacity through standardized processes.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of payroll tax experience with complex tax defect resolution.
• Experience as a lead or SME with coaching juniors.
• Expert knowledge of US payroll tax regulations across jurisdictions.
• Advanced writing for SOPs and technical documents.
• 5+ years handling escalations with minimal leadership guidance.
• 4+ years in contact center or back-office operations.
• Comfort with using AI tools to improve workflows.

Responsibilities

• Serve as primary real-time technical expert for TP1, TP2, and TP3 staff, answering complex questions and teaching resolution paths to build team capability.
• Own the authoring, technical review, and formal approval of SOPs and KB articles.
• Conduct structured coaching sessions at least quarterly with assigned team members using SBIC model.
• Lead or contribute to team huddles, group QA sessions, and stand-up facilitation when needed.
• Maintain mastery of daily business landscape, oversee WIP, backlog, and aging reports, and suggest staffing adjustments.
• Resolve severe State and Federal payroll tax notices, including IRS differences and cross-jurisdictional penalties.
• Approve complex Federal (941-X, W-2c) and State returns with audit trails.
• Identify trends and risks, communicating findings with data-driven responses.
• Represent team in cross-functional meetings and provide risk-informed alternatives.
