Job summary

Intuit is seeking a Lead Tax Processor and Subject Matter Expert (Level X5) in Tampa, FL to guide the Payroll Tax Operations team. You will own complex escalations, approve SOPs, and coach staff to build capability while ensuring compliance and timely resolution.

In this technical leadership role, you will govern standards, mentor peers, and drive process improvements using data-driven insights. The role supports flexible hours with overtime eligibility and strong compensation.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of payroll tax experience with complex defect resolution and multi-state filings.
• Experience as a lead, senior specialist, or SME with coaching junior staff.
• Expert knowledge of US payroll tax regulations across jurisdictions, including local and state programs.
• Advanced writing skills for SOPs and technical documents.
• Strong ownership of SLAs and proactive issue resolution.
• Experience handling high-stakes escalations with minimal guidance.
• Ability to work in contact center/back-office, high-volume environment.
• Comfort with evaluating and applying AI tools to improve workflows.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary real-time technical expert for TP1-TP3 staff and resolve complex questions.
• Author, review, and approve SOPs and KB articles across core operations.
• Conduct structured coaching sessions quarterly to close skill gaps.
• Lead team huddles and QA sessions and back up Daily Stand-Ups when needed.
• Oversee WIP management, backlog reduction, and aging reports to inform staffing.
• Resolve severe payroll tax notices and cross-jurisdictional penalties.
• Approve complex amended Form 941-X and W-2c filings with audit trails.
• Identify trends and compliance risks, communicating with data-driven recommendations.
• Represent team in cross-functional meetings with a focus on compliance.
