Job summary

Vaco by Highspring seeks a Senior Payroll Specialist to oversee end-to-end payroll for 800+ employees across multiple states, ensuring accuracy and regulatory compliance. You will manage data, audits, and tax filings while collaborating with HR and Finance to resolve inquiries and improve processes.

The role requires 5+ years of payroll experience, strong ADP and Excel skills, and a CPP is a plus. On-site position in Birmingham, AL with a focus on data integrity and attention to detail.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field (preferred).
• Minimum of 5 years of payroll processing experience, multi-state a plus.
• Strong knowledge of payroll systems, especially ADP, and Excel.
• Understanding of payroll laws, regulations, and tax compliance.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• High accuracy and attention to detail.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
• CPP certification is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Manage end-to-end payroll processing for 800+ employees across multiple states.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations.
• Process and reconcile payroll data, including earnings, deductions, benefits, and taxes.
• Maintain accurate employee payroll records in the HRIS and payroll systems.
• Handle payroll audits and resolve discrepancies promptly.
• Prepare and submit tax filings, including W-2s, 1099s, and other required documentation.
• Stay updated on changes to payroll laws and regulations, implementing updates as needed.
• Collaborate with HR and Finance teams to ensure data integrity and resolve employee inquiries regarding payroll.
• Assist with system upgrades, implementations, and process improvements.
