Job summary

Vaco by Highspring is seeking a Payroll & HR Administrator to own payroll, benefits, and HR operations across a multi-state workforce. The role includes weekly payroll, benefits administration, and maintaining HR records with a focus on compliance and a positive employee experience throughout the lifecycle.

The candidate will support recruiting, onboarding, and offboarding, manage PTO and leave programs, and ensure accurate payroll processing.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of HR experience required.
• Strong full-cycle weekly payroll experience in a multi-state environment.
• Experience administering workers’ compensation, leave programs, and employee benefits.
• Knowledge of payroll tax compliance and HR best practices.
• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage confidential information.
• Working knowledge of California employment and wage‑and‑hour requirements is a plus.
• SHRM certification is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Process weekly multi-state payroll and related employee changes.
• Manage new hire, termination, and compensation updates.
• Review and troubleshoot timecards and attendance records.
• Ensure payroll tax compliance and reporting requirements.
• Register and maintain payroll tax accounts in new states as the company's footprint expands.
