Job summary

The University of Virginia is seeking an experienced patient-focused service representative to coordinate complex scheduling, retrieve records, and communicate with patients, families and referring providers to ensure timely, right-care appointments.

You will follow standard operating procedures, handle registration, check-in/out, and strive to improve patient experience while maintaining privacy and accurate EMR documentation.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required; associates degree preferred.
• Experience in patient scheduling, registration or appointment management.
• Strong communication and privacy compliance in healthcare settings.

Responsibilities

• Schedule complex multi-provider appointments and coordinate with care teams.
• Register patients, collect payments when applicable, and issue receipts.
• Verify demographics and insurance information for each appointment.
• Obtain and document patient records and ensure timely follow-up communications.
• Maintain accuracy in EMR documentation and adhere to SOPs for call center and clinic settings.
