Job summary

WSP USA is a leading professional services firm seeking a POWER Testing and Energization Lead P&C Field Services Technician for project locations across the United States. You will lead field teams performing protection and control testing on high‑voltage substations and power systems.

The role requires extensive field experience, advanced knowledge of protective relays, and the ability to mentor technicians while maintaining safety and quality. Travel up to 80% is expected.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 11+ years in electrical testing including HV breakers, transformers, and substation testing.
• Expertise on transmission, generation, or distribution relays and protective schemes.
• Relay calibration with Omicron/Doble test sets, control scheme testing, and microprocessor relays testing.
• Experience with testing standards (NETA, IEEE, NFPA).
• Knowledge of relays from SEL, Basler, Beckwith, GE families.
• Proficient with test software: ProTesT, Protection Suite, ENOSERV RTS, Omicron Test Universe, AcSELerator Quickset.
• Strong field documentation and communication skills.
• Willingness to travel up to 80%.

Responsibilities

• Lead field operations on complex projects with technical guidance.
• Troubleshoot field challenges and ensure safety and quality.
• Coordinate with engineers and subcontractors for compliant delivery.
• Mentor technicians and manage site logistics.
• Communicate progress and risks to project leadership.
• Perform testing and commissioning of protection and control systems.
• Document site activities with field forms and digital tools.
• Ensure data collected integrates with project systems.
