Job summary

WSP USA is seeking an experienced POWER Testing and Energization (PTE) Lead P&C Technician Field Services for multiple western states. You will perform testing and commissioning of protection and control systems in HV substations and coordinate with engineers, clients, and field crews to ensure safety and quality.

The role requires extensive field experience, strong communication, and the ability to mentor junior technicians while adhering to regulatory standards and client requirements.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 11+ years in electrical testing including HV substations and protection and controls testing.
• Experience with transmission/generation/distribution relays and protective schemes.
• Advanced testing and calibration using Omicron/Doble test gear.
• Knowledge of testing standards (NETA, IEEE, NFPA).
• Ability to travel up to 80% and lead field teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead field operations and provide technical guidance on complex projects.
• Troubleshoot and resolve field issues; escalate to leadership when needed.
• Coordinate with engineers, subcontractors, and clients to deliver tasks.
• Mentor technicians and manage site logistics and safety.
• Document field activities using digital tools and data systems.
• Lead readiness planning, site access, and weather contingency measures.
• Act as senior field representative in pre-con meetings and regulatory inspections.
