Job summary

WSP USA is seeking a POWER Testing and Energization Experienced P&C Field Services Technician to support projects across multiple states, including North Carolina. The role focuses on testing and commissioning for protection and control in substations, with on-site execution and data documentation.

You will work with Omicron Doble test sets and various relay families, mentor junior technicians, and ensure safety and quality on active job sites, with up to 80% travel expected.

Qualifications

• Minimum 7 years in electrical testing, including medium/high voltage breakers and substations.
• Experience with protection and control testing per industry standards (NETA, IEEE, NFPA).
• Knowledge of relay testing equipment and field data collection processes.
• Ability to read electrical drawings and interpret schematics.

Responsibilities

• Perform testing and commissioning tasks for Protection and Control systems on HV substations.
• Conduct on-site relay testing using Omicron/Doble test sets and verify protection schemes.
• Document site activities using field forms, digital tools, and mobile apps.
• Calibrate equipment, manage inventory, and follow safety protocols on site.
• Assist Project Lead or Field Supervisor and escalate complex issues when needed.
• Participate in daily safety briefings and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Communicate progress and potential delays to the project team.
• Review work of junior technicians and provide guidance as needed.
• Maintain logs, photos, and labels with attention to detail.
• Collaborate with technicians to maintain workflow, safety, and quality.
• Monitor subcontractor performance and report observations to field leadership.
• Complete timecards, expense reports, and project reports.
