Job summary

WSP USA seeks a POWER Testing and Energization Lead P&C Field Services Technician to oversee testing and commissioning in multiple locations, including North Carolina. You will lead field crews, mentor technicians, and ensure compliance with safety and client requirements.

You will perform on-site protection and control testing for high voltage substations, calibrate relays, and document results using digital tools. Travel up to 80% is required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent (minimum).
• 11+ years in electrical testing, including HV/MV breakers, transformers, instrument transformers, and substation testing.
• Experience with transmission, generation, or distribution relays and protective schemes (SEL, Basler, Beckwith, GE).
• Advanced protection testing skills: relay calibration, test sets, and microprocessor relays testing.
• Familiarity with testing standards (NETA, IEEE, NFPA) and field safety practices.
• Ability to travel up to 80% and lift up to 35 lb (100 lb with assistance).

Responsibilities

• Lead field operations with expert technical guidance and oversee day-to-day site activities.
• Troubleshoot technical challenges, uphold safety standards, and escalate major issues.
• Coordinate with engineers, scientists, and subcontractors to deliver compliant field tasks.
• Mentor technicians, manage site logistics, and foster effective communication with leadership.
• Provide field readiness planning and health & safety protocol implementation.
