Job summary

WSP USA is seeking a POWER Testing and Energization (PTE) Experienced P&C Field Services Technician for project locations in Texas, New Mexico, and Oklahoma. Join our growing team delivering electrical testing and commissioning for substations, industrial and power systems.

You will perform protective relay testing, on-site commissioning, and use tools like Omicron and Doble instruments. Travel up to 80% and mentor junior staff while ensuring safety and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of 7 years in electrical testing, including medium/high voltage breakers, transformers, instruments, and protection testing.
• Expertise with transmission, generation, and distribution relays (SEL, Basler, Beckwith, GE) and protective schemes.
• Relay testing/calibration using Omicron CMC 256/356 and Doble F6150; control scheme testing; CT/PT circuit testing; updating relay settings; static & dynamic tests on microprocessor relays.
• Experience with testing standards (NETA, IEEE, NFPA).
• Experience testing electrical distribution/generation/transmission at 15 kV–500 kV.
• Experience with ProTesT, Protection Suite, ENOSERV RTS, Omicron Test Universe, and AcSELerator Quickset.
• Ability to read electrical drawings.
• Willingness to travel up to 80%.

Responsibilities

• Perform protection and control testing on high voltage substations.
• Conduct on-site protective relay testing using specified relay test sets.
• Document site activities with field forms, digital tools, and mobile apps.
• Maintain logs, sketches, and digital reports; assist project lead.
• Uphold safety, quality, and regulatory compliance on all sites.
