Job summary

WSP is seeking a POWER Testing and Energization (PTE) Experienced P&C Field Services Technician for project locations including Florida. You will perform testing and commissioning on high voltage substations and relay systems, using Omicron, Doble, and ENOSERV tools.

You will document field activities, assist project leadership, and uphold safety and quality at active job sites in a dynamic, field-based role.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in the electrical testing industry, including experience with medium and high voltage circuit breakers, transformers, and substation testing.
• Expertise on transmission, generation, and distribution relays and protective schemes.
• Protective relay testing and calibration with test sets (Omicron, Doble) and configuring relay settings.
• Knowledge of testing standards (NETA, IEEE, NFPA).
• Experience with high voltage distribution, generation, and transmission projects up to 500 kV.
• Experience using specialized testing software (ProTeST, Protection Suite, ENOSERV RTS, Omicron).
• Ability to read electrical drawings and communicate findings clearly.

Responsibilities

• Perform testing and commissioning tasks for Protection and Control systems on high voltage substations.
• Conduct on-site protective relay testing using relay test sets.
• Document site activities with field forms and digital tools.
• Perform equipment cleaning, inventory control, and calibration as directed.
• Support Project Lead or Field Supervisor and escalate complex issues as needed.
• Adhere to safety protocols and participate in daily safety briefings.
• Communicate progress and observations to the project team.
• Mentor junior technicians and review work for quality.
