Job summary

BKF Engineers seeks an experienced construction professional in California to serve as Owner's representative on bridge, roadway, and civil projects, ensuring work aligns with contract documents and quality standards.

You will lead staff, manage budgets and schedules, coordinate with inspectors and agencies, review change orders, and prepare final project documentation for delivery and closeout.

Qualifications

• BS in Civil Engineering.
• California registered Professional Engineer (P.E.) required.
• 8+ years construction contract management experience on roadway/bridge projects.
• Knowledge of CALTRANS/local agency projects and federal-funded documentation desirable.
• Ability to effectively manage people.

Responsibilities

• Serve as Owner's professional representative on bridge, roadway, and general civil construction projects; ensure projects are built per contract documents.
• Works with field inspectors and team to meet project goals; perform construction engineering duties on roadways and bridges.
• Responsible for project QA/QC and for managing staff and contract administration.
• Review change orders, shop drawings, materials testing, and surveying activities; conduct weekly project meetings and oversee utility coordination.
• Arrange materials testing, surveying, grade verification, and processing payment requests.
• Prepare progress and final documentation in compliance with State and Federal Highway Administration requirements.
• Maintain scopes, budgets and schedules; supervise staff and drive project profitability.
