Job summary

OPTX Rhode Island is seeking an experienced Ophthalmology Front Desk Specialist to join our established ophthalmology practice. The right candidate will have hands-on experience with medical insurance, insurance verification, patient scheduling, collecting copays and deductibles, EMR/practice-management systems, and the daily workflow of an ophthalmology practice.

Nextech Practice Management and EMR experience is strongly preferred.

Qualifications

• Prior ophthalmology or eye-care front desk experience is required.
• Experience with medical insurance verification and patient scheduling is required.
• Familiarity with EMR and practice-management systems, preferably Nextech.

Responsibilities

• Verify medical insurance eligibility, benefits, and patient coverage
• Enter and maintain patient insurance and demographic information
• Explain patient copays, deductibles, and financial responsibilities
• Collect copays, deductibles, and other balances
• Schedule ophthalmology appointments
• Register and check patients in and out
• Manage a busy physician and provider schedule
• Answer and manage patient calls professionally
• Work within EMR and practice-management systems
• Communicate with physicians, technicians, billing and staff
• Maintain accuracy while multitasking in a fast-paced environment
• Provide patients with a professional, welcoming experience
