Job summary

Merck is seeking an Associate Director, Oncology Key Accounts to serve as the main contact for large oncology groups and integrated delivery networks. This field-based role manages accounts in Texas and requires strong leadership, strategic account planning, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to improve patient outcomes.

The ideal candidate has extensive experience in healthcare/oncology sales, proven ability to build senior-level relationships, and the travel requirement about 50%.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree with at least 8 years of sales experience OR a minimum of high school diploma with at least 10 years of equivalent experience
  • Equivalent experience can be professional sales experience, healthcare/scientific field with oncology exposure, or related areas
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in healthcare, life sciences, sales, account management or managed care
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Ability to build relationships with senior healthcare executives and key opinion leaders
  • Demonstrated financial acumen with ability to communicate value proposition and negotiate
  • Strong understanding of healthcare ecosystem
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong leadership and cross-functional collaboration
  • Ability to travel ~50%

Responsibilities

  • Builds trust with colleagues, stakeholders, and customers through effective communication and collaboration.
  • Lead through challenging situations while prioritizing tasks to meet deadlines and objectives.
  • Influence others and lead without authority to solve problems and reach consensus.
  • Understand portfolio to provide disease and product information to decision makers in accounts.
  • Maximize utilization of portfolio and bring resources to customers to improve patient outcomes.
  • Align responses to customer needs using approved resources and messages.
  • Understand treatment decision factors, pathways, sites of care, and guidelines.
  • Utilize internal data and analytics to understand account performance and opportunities.
  • Coordinate across local account teams to ensure contract pull-through and address terms.
  • Establish strategic account plans aligned with brand strategy and objectives.
  • Build trust with key decision makers and identify approved resources for customers.
  • Communicate account information using approved tools.
