Sargent & Lundy in the United States is seeking a senior Mechanical Engineer to drive nuclear power uprate projects. You will lead evaluations of systems and components, perform heat balance work, and prepare reports for client reviews.

The role emphasizes mentorship of junior staff, interface with clients, and development of cost estimates while applying thermodynamics and fluid mechanics to power plant upgrades.

Qualifications

• BSME from ABET-accredited program with strong thermodynamics, heat transfer and fluid mechanics.
• 12+ years of nuclear power industry experience.
• Experience with nuclear uprates and/or turbine retrofit projects.
• Experience in balance of plant evaluations, heat balance, pumps and exchangers.
• Strong report writing and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead licensing basis evaluations for nuclear uprate projects.
• Prepare heat balances, pump/heater calculations and equipment reviews.
• Develop engineering proposals and cost estimates.
• Lead and mentor junior engineers on project tasks.
• Interface with clients and conduct site walkdowns as needed.
