Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking an experienced Mechanical Analysis Engineer to lead licensing basis evaluations and uprate analyses for nuclear power plants. The role emphasizes thermodynamics, heat transfer, and fluid mechanics within a project-driven environment.

You will interact with clients and project teams, prepare calculations and reports, and mentor junior staff as you contribute to safe, compliant power plant enhancements and cost-effective improvements.

Qualifications

• Requires a BSME from an ABET-accredited program with strong thermodynamics, heat transfer, and fluid mechanics.
• 10+ years in the nuclear power industry.
• Experience with nuclear power uprates and turbine retrofit projects.

Responsibilities

• Develop and lead licensing basis system and component evaluations for nuclear power uprate projects.
• Apply thermodynamics, heat transfer, and fluid mechanics to power plant engineering tasks.
• Perform consulting-level work for uprates in the nuclear industry and prepare related calculations and reports.
• Size equipment, optimize evaluation, and select components for uprate proposals.
• Interface with clients and teams to present status and findings; develop engineering proposals and cost estimates.
• Lead and mentor junior staff and perform independent reviews of colleagues’ work.
