Sargent & Lundy in Cranberry Township is seeking a senior Mechanical Engineer to support nuclear uprate projects, applying thermodynamics, heat transfer, and fluid mechanics to major systems and components. You will lead calculations, prepare reports, and develop proposals while mentoring junior staff.

The role offers a hybrid work arrangement with three days in the office and two remote days, involving client interactions, site walkdowns, and collaboration with power generation clients.

Qualifications

• Requires BSME from ABET-accredited program with strong thermodynamics/heat transfer/fluid mechanics.
• 10+ years in the nuclear power industry.
• Experience with power uprates and/or turbine retrofit projects.
• Knowledge of codes, standards, and regulations for nuclear power plant mechanical design.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; strong technical report writing skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop and lead licensing basis system and component evaluations for nuclear uprate projects.
• Apply thermodynamics, heat transfer, and fluid mechanics to power plant engineering tasks.
• Prepare calculations related to heat balances, pumps, exchangers, sinks, and plant hazards.
• Develop engineering proposals and cost estimates; mentor junior staff.
• Lead client meetings, site walkdowns, and project reviews.
