Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking a Mechanical Engineer for the Nuclear Power group in the United States. The role emphasizes licensing basis evaluations for uprate projects, thermodynamics, heat transfer, and fluid mechanics, with three in-office days and two remote days in a hybrid arrangement.

You will develop calculations, perform equipment sizing, and interface with clients to present findings and status. ABET-accredited BSME with 7+ years of nuclear experience is required.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited BSME program required.
• 7+ years nuclear power experience.
• Experience with nuclear uprates or turbine retrofit projects.
• Strong technical report writing and communication skills.
• Knowledge of mechanical engineering design codes and standards for nuclear plants.
• Experience with heat balance, pumps, exchangers, and related equipment.

Responsibilities

• Develop and lead licensing basis evaluations for nuclear uprate projects.
• Apply thermodynamics, heat transfer, and fluid mechanics to power plant systems.
• Prepare calculations and reports to support client recommendations.
• Size equipment and perform optimization to support uprates.
• Interface with clients and project teams to present status and findings.
• Attend client meetings and site walkdowns to validate scope.
