Job summary

Sargent & Lundy seeks an experienced Instrumentation & Controls Engineer to join our Nuclear Power Group at the Surry site. You will lead digital I&C design for nuclear plants, including DCS/PLC/HSI work, design reviews, and vendor coordination.

You will mentor project teams, contribute to modernization programs, support outages, and help deliver safe, reliable control systems across BWR/PWR projects, with a strong focus on quality and client satisfaction.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited engineering degree required.
• 10+ years in instrumentation and controls design for heavy industrial plants.
• Experience with low/medium voltage distribution and turbine/pump control systems.
• Experience with DCS for nuclear reactors (BWR/PWR).
• Knowledge of available equipment and pre-engineered systems.
• Experience as firm/client liaison desirable.
• Experience reviewing design drawings.

Responsibilities

• Develop and market high-level control programs for nuclear projects.
• Lead technical decision making in project teams.
• Investigate and troubleshoot instrumentation & controls issues.
• Coordinate design activities to meet specs and codes.
• Perform digital systems design for PLC, DCS, and HSIs.
• Prepare design input and drawings.
• Interface with vendors for materials and specs.
• Prepare reports and studies for clients.
• Attend client meetings and site walkdowns.
• Support station outage activities as required.
