Job summary

Sargent & Lundy’s Nuclear Power Group seeks a senior Instrumentation & Controls engineer to drive complex design development for both new plants and upgrades in a hybrid work environment. You will lead project teams, coordinate multidisciplinary input, and ensure designs meet stringent client and regulatory standards.

The role emphasizes digital I&C, automation, and data-driven approaches to optimize performance, reliability, and safety across heavy industrial nuclear projects.

Qualifications

• BS or MS in engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• 10+ years of experience in the design engineering of instrumentation and controls systems for heavy industrial plants.
• Technically knowledgeable about available equipment and proven pre-engineered systems.
• Experience as a firm/client liaison in a support or lead engineering role is desirable.
• Experience in reviewing design drawings created by others.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical decision making within a project team for digital I&C systems.
• Direct automation and modernization efforts, ensuring cost-effective designs.
• Coordinate design activities to meet specifications, codes, and client requirements.
• Prepare and review detailed calculations for analog and digital controls applications.
• Interface with vendors and review equipment purchase specifications.
• Attend client meetings and site walkdowns to validate scope and client satisfaction.
