Job summary

Sargent & Lundy seeks an on-site field I&C engineer to support major upgrades at the Surry Nuclear Power Plant. You will work on digital control systems, instrumentation replacements, and control-logic enhancements, collaborating with clients to deliver robust, compliant designs.

The role emphasizes mentoring engineers, reviewing design drawings, and applying data-driven approaches to improve efficiency and safety in nuclear plant projects.

Qualifications

• BS or MS in Electrical, Chemical, or Mechanical Engineering from ABET-accredited program.
• Minimum 5 years in design engineering for process control systems; nuclear power plant control system experience preferred.
• Experience with controls system design including low/medium voltage distribution and controls for turbines, pumps, feedwater, data displays.
• Experience with instrumentation and controls for BWR or PWR reactors, DCS for turbine and feedwater.
• Familiar with pre-engineered systems and ability to review drawings.

Responsibilities

• Lead major process controls engineering projects for upgrades and modifications at nuclear plants.
• Develop functional requirements and procurement specifications for instrumentation and control systems.
• Evaluate instrumentation replacement reports and nuclear modification packages.
• Provide mentorship to less experienced I&C design engineers.
• Attend client meetings and perform site walkdowns to ensure client satisfaction.
• Lead teams leveraging data, automation, and AI to improve workflows.
