Job summary
Valar Atomics in Utah is seeking a Staff Controls Software Engineer to develop, configure, test, and commission control software for nuclear fuel manufacturing facilities. You will lead PLC/DCS programming, SCADA/HMI development, ISA-88 batch control, alarm management, and safety logic with enterprise integration responsibilities.

Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Electronic, Computer, or Systems Engineering.
- 8+ years of controls software, PLC programming, or SCADA development experience in process industries.
- Hands-on PLC programming with major platforms (Rockwell, Siemens, Emerson) using IEC 61131-3 languages.
- Hands-on SCADA development on Ignition, FactoryTalk, AVEVA, WinCC.
- Experience establishing HMI design standards per ISA-101/HPHMI.
- Experience ISA-88 batch control sequences and ISA-18.2 alarm management.
- Experience IEC 61511 safety, plant historian systems, and data dashboards.
- Familiarity with ISA-95 enterprise-control integration and OT cybersecurity (IEC 62443).
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain PLC and DCS programs across platforms.
- Configure SCADA/HMI applications on Ignition, FactoryTalk, AVEVA, WinCC.
- Design HMI displays per ISA-101/HPHMI principles and ensure situational awareness.
- Develop ISA-88 batch control logic and batch supervisory layers.
- Configure alarm management per ISA-18.2 with KPIs.
- Implement safety logic per IEC 61511 and test on SIS platforms.
- Configure plant historian systems and build dashboards/reports.
- Enable ISA-95 enterprise-control integration and REST API interfaces.
- Configure OT networks and cybersecurity controls per IEC 62443.
