Job summary

Valar Atomics is hiring a Staff Instrumentation and Controls Engineer to design, develop, commission, and maintain control systems for nuclear fuel manufacturing facilities. You will lead full controls stack, including PLC/DCS programming, SCADA/HMI, ISA-88 batch control, and safety systems, with oversight of contractors and guidance for junior engineers.

The role requires senior technical leadership, experience with major platforms, and a strong safety culture in a nuclear environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required in Electrical, Electronic, Computer, or Systems Engineering or related discipline.
• 8+ years of I&C or controls engineering in process industries with project ownership from design to commissioning.
• Hands-on PLC programming with major platforms using IEC 61131-3.
• Experience developing or maintaining SCADA on major platforms (Ignition, FactoryTalk, AVEVA, WinCC).
• Experience developing ISA-88 batch control sequences.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain PLC/DCS programs on major platforms and IEC 61131-3 languages.
• Design SCADA applications and HMI across local and supervisory levels.
• Implement ISA-88 batch control with recipe management and phase logic.
• Configure alarm systems to ISA-18.2 and maintain KPI monitoring.
• Configure and commission SIFs on SIS platforms per IEC 61511.
• Support enterprise-control integration and data exchange (MES/ERP/LIMS).
