Valar Atomics is seeking a Staff Controls Software Engineer to develop, configure, test, and commission the control system software for nuclear fuel manufacturing facilities.

The role covers PLC and DCS programming, SCADA and HMI application development, ISA-88 batch control, alarm management, safety logic programming, historian configuration, and ISA-95 enterprise integration with senior responsibility for technical leadership of complex projects, contractor oversight, and mentorship of junior

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Electronic, Computer, or Systems Engineering or related field.
• 8+ years in controls software, PLC programming, or SCADA development with ownership of complex projects.
• Hands-on PLC programming on major platforms using IEC 61131-3 languages.
• Experience developing SCADA/HMI on major platforms and ISA-101/HPHMI design.
• ISA-88 batch control experience and alarm management with ISA-18.2.
• Familiarity with ISA-95 enterprise-control integration and OT cybersecurity.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain PLC and DCS programs; implement ladder logic, function blocks, structured text.
• Configure SCADA and HMI applications; build tags, templates, and redundancy architectures.
• Design ISA-88 batch control and supervision for batch execution monitoring.
• Configure alarm systems per ISA-18.2 and implement safety logic under IEC 61511.
• Develop and integrate historian data, dashboards, and enterprise interfaces.
• Mentor junior engineers and provide technical direction to contractors.
