Job summary

Valar Atomics is seeking a Controls Software Engineer to develop, configure, test, and commission control software for nuclear fuel manufacturing facilities at our Utah pilot site. You will program PLC/DCS, develop SCADA/HMI applications, implement ISA-88 batch control, alarm management, and safety logic, and enable ISA-95 data integration with MES/ERP systems.

The role requires hands-on experience with major platforms and a strong emphasis on data integrity, safety, and nuclear quality

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Electronic, Computer, or Systems Engineering, Computer Science, or related.
• 12
• 3–7 years of controls software, PLC programming, or SCADA development experience in process industries.
• Hands-on PLC programming experience with major platforms using IEC 61131-3 languages.
• Experience developing or maintaining SCADA on Ignition, FactoryTalk, AVEVA, WinCC, or equivalent.
• Experience designing HMI displays to ISA-101 or HPHMI principles.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain PLC and DCS programs on Rockwell, Siemens, Emerson, or equivalent; ladder logic, function block, structured text.
• Configure SCADA applications and build tag databases, APIs, and redundancy architectures.
• Design HMI displays per ISA-101/HPHMI with clear navigation and situational awareness graphics.
• Develop batch control software in ISA-88; manage recipes and equipment arbitration.
• Configure alarm systems to ISA-18.2 and manage KPI reporting.
• Implement ISA-95 enterprise integration and REST APIs for data exchange.
• Configure plant historian systems and build dashboards; perform troubleshooting.
