Job summary

Valar Atomics Inc. is seeking a Staff Instrumentation and Controls Engineer to design, develop, commission, and maintain control systems for nuclear fuel manufacturing facilities.

The role covers PLC/DCS programming, SCADA/HMI development, ISA-88 batch control, and safety-instrumented systems with senior technical leadership. You will lead contractor oversight, mentor junior engineers, and ensure high standards for quality, safety, and regulatory compliance within a hands-on nuclear

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Electronic, Computer, or Systems Engineering.
• 8+ years of I&C or controls engineering experience in process industries.
• Hands-on PLC programming with IEC 61131-3 languages.
• Experience with SCADA platforms and batch control (ISA-88).
• Familiarity with OPC-UA, EtherNet/IP, PROFINET, or Modbus.
• Ability to read P&IDs and instrument data sheets.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain PLC/DCS programs and ladders.
• Configure SCADA and HMI displays across local and supervisory levels.
• Lead ISA-88 batch control and recipe management activities.
• Tune control loops and commission instrumentation in the field.
• Oversee safety instrumented functions and SIS integration.
• Provide technical direction to contractors and document controls work.
