Job summary

Akamai Technologies, Inc. in Little Rock, AR is seeking a Senior II Site Reliability Engineer - Network to ensure reliability and performance of Akamai Connected Cloud network infrastructure.

You will define SLOs, collaborate with DevOps and QA, and drive scalable, robust solutions end-to-end. Responsibilities include mentoring team members, shaping design standards, and building automation to streamline development, testing, and deployment across distributed systems.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience and a Bachelor's diploma in Computer Science or its equivalent.
• Have experience in a Site or Network Reliability Engineering, Network Engineering, Software Engineering, or DevOps role working with large-scale distributed systems.
• Have advanced proficiency with configuration management tools such as Ansible, Salt Stack, Chef, Puppet, or similar.
• Have experience with Linux networking at the userspace level and open source networking software such as FRR, Bird, or goBGP.
• Have an understanding of networking such as TCP/IP, OSI model, and Cisco or Juniper routers and switches.
• Have experience developing applications, contributing to codebases, conducting code review, and writing scripts using languages such as Python, Bash, or Go.
• Have experience with continuous integration / continuous deployment tools such as Jenkins, Github Actions, ArgoCD, or similar.

Responsibilities

• Partnering across teams to ensure the reliability, scalability and usability of our network infrastructure, products, and services.
• Defining requirements as part of the product lifecycle to influence new designs and standards.
• Developing automation pipelines to support development, testing, and deployment workflows.
• Defining SLOs for network infrastructure within the Akamai Connected Cloud to ensure high availability and performance.
• Working with Dev and Quality Assurance teams to create more robust solutions, code improvement and stability.
• Serving as a mentor to team members, driving code quality standards and providing thought leadership on architectural decisions.
