Job summary

Akamai Technologies, Inc. seeks a Principal Site Reliability Engineer - Network to lead design, build, and operation of scalable network infrastructure that powers Akamai Connected Cloud.

You will drive reliability, performance, and automation across global deployments. You will mentor engineers, define standards for deployments, and collaborate with software, operations, and product teams to improve tooling, documentation, and incident response.

Qualifications

• 12 years of relevant experience in site or network reliability engineering or DevOps.
• Experience with large-scale distributed systems.
• Deep understanding of TCP/IP, BGP, load balancers, and firewalls.
• Proficiency with configuration management tools (Ansible/Salt/Chef/Puppet).

Responsibilities

• Architect, build, and support solutions that foster efficient processes.
• Mentor team members and drive code quality standards.
• Collaborate on deployment standards and update documentation accordingly.
• Develop automation tools with Bash, Python, Slack bots; work with network developers.
• Define SLOs for Akamai Connected Cloud network infrastructure.
• Collaborate with support, operations, and engineering to troubleshoot complex network problems including on-call rotations.
