Job summary

Akamai seeks a Principal Site Reliability Engineer - Network to design, build and operate scalable network infrastructure for Akamai Connected Cloud. You will lead in architecture, reliability, and performance while collaborating with software development, operations and stakeholders worldwide.

With 12 years of relevant experience and a BS in CS, you will mentor peers, define SLOs, and drive automation using Python, Bash, Go, and tools like Ansible and Jenkins.

Qualifications

• 12 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's degree.
• Experience in Site/Network Reliability, Network, Software or DevOps roles with large-scale distributed systems.
• Deep understanding of TCP/IP, BGP, load balancing and firewall concepts.
• Proficiency with configuration management tools such as Ansible, Salt Stack, Chef, Puppet.
• Experience with Linux networking and open source networking software (FRR, Bird, goBGP).
• Experience developing applications, contributing to codebases, code reviews, and scripting (Python, Bash, Go, Rust).
• Experience with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, Github Actions, ArgoCD).

Responsibilities

• Architect, build and support solutions that foster efficient and streamlined processes.
• Mentor team members and drive code quality standards; provide architectural leadership.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams on deployment standards and update docs.
• Build/test/design automation tools (Bash, Python, Slack bots) with network developers.
• Define SLOs for Akamai Connected Cloud network infrastructure to ensure HA and performance.
• Collaborate with support/ops/engineering to troubleshoot complex network issues, including on-call rotations.
