Job summary

Cloudflare in Austin, TX is seeking an experienced Software Engineer to join the Egress team. You will help build and operate a cutting-edge network software platform powering Cloudflare’s egress connectivity across products like WARP and iCloud Private Relay.

You will collaborate with multiple engineering groups, contribute to design, code, tests, and deployments, and participate in on-call rotations. Proficiency in Go or Rust, networking, HTTP/TLS, and distributed systems is essential.

Qualifications

• Programming experience in Go or Rust and willingness to improve both.
• Solid grasp of Layers 3 and 4 networking.
• Knowledge of HTTP, TLS, and CDN networks.
• Experience in implementing secure and highly-available distributed systems.
• Strong ability to debug issues in complex systems.
• Strong collaboration and communication skills.
• Experience/interest in HTTP networking and VPN technologies.
• Experience/interest in network performance monitoring and tuning.
• Willingness to adopt and integrate AI tools into engineering workflow.

Responsibilities

• Make daily progress on engineering tasks, such as designing systems, writing specs, coding, and release planning.
• Participate in daily and ad-hoc team meetings to share progress and collaborate.
• Participate in the team’s on-call schedule to ensure uptime of production systems.
• Investigate customer issues escalated to the Egress team for triage and resolution.
• Respond to questions from other teams in the Egress team’s internal/public chat room.
• Use AI-powered tools to analyze and extend codebases and accelerate problem-solving.
