Job summary

Cloudflare is seeking an senior software engineer for the Egress team in Austin to own and evolve network software infrastructure powering products like WARP and iCloud Private Relay.

You will collaborate with multiple engineering groups, translate requirements into platform capabilities, participate in the software lifecycle from design to deployment, and contribute to on-call rotations. Expect a fast-paced, curious, AI-enabled environment.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of hands-on software engineering experience, with ownership of distributed, production-critical systems end to end.
• Demonstrated leadership beyond your own code: driving RFCs and design reviews.
• Solid grasp of networking protocols in OSI layers 3 and 4.
• Knowledge of HTTP, TLS, and CDN networks.
• Willingness to adopt and integrate AI tools into engineering workflow.

Responsibilities

• Make daily progress on engineering tasks: design systems, write specs, push code via Git, plan releases.
• Participate in daily/adhoc team meetings to share progress and collaborate.
• Contribute to on-call rotation to ensure uptime of production systems.
• Investigate customer issues escalated to the Egress team for triage and resolution.
• Collaborate with teams to translate requirements into platform capabilities; write tests and documentation.
