Job summary

Cloudflare in Austin, TX, is seeking a software engineer for the Egress team to help scale and connect our network services to destinations worldwide, including WARP and iCloud Private Relay.

You will design and implement systems in Go or Rust, collaborate with multiple engineering teams, and participate in on-call duties while applying AI tools to speed development. This is a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment that values curiosity and teamwork.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of hands-on software engineering experience, including ownership of architecture for complex distributed systems.
• Proficiency in Go or Rust and willingness to grow in both.
• Solid grasp of networking protocols (Layers 3–4) and HTTP/TLS/CDN concepts.
• Experience/interest in secure, highly available distributed systems and VPN tech.
• Strong debugging, collaboration, and communication skills.
• Willingness to adopt AI tools in engineering workflows.

Responsibilities

• Make daily progress on engineering tasks: design systems, write specs, commit code, plan releases.
• Participate in team meetings to share progress and coordinate actions.
• Be part of on-call rotation to ensure uptime of production systems.
• Investigate escalated customer issues and provide timely resolutions.
• Engage with other teams via internal chat and documentation.
• Utilize AI-powered tools to analyze codebases and accelerate problem solving.
