Job summary

Cloudflare is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for the Egress team to help build a scalable network software infrastructure that connects Cloudflare’s vast services with any destination on the Internet.

You will work with Go or Rust, Linux networking, and a mix of technologies (ClickHouse, PostgreSQL, Grafana, Kubernetes) while contributing across the full software lifecycle. The role is hybrid with available locations including Austin, Lisbon, and London.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of hands-on software engineering experience
• Experience owning architecture of complex distributed systems end to end
• Strong debugging and problem-solving skills
• Technical leadership beyond own code (RFCs, design reviews)
• Solid grasp of networking protocols (OSI Layers 3/4)
• Experience with HTTP/TLS and CDN networks

Responsibilities

• Make daily progress on engineering tasks including designing systems and writing code
• Participate in daily/ad-hoc team meetings to share progress
• Contribute to on-call rotation to ensure production uptime
• Investigate customer issues escalated to the Egress team
• Respond to questions in the internal/public chat room
• Leverage AI-powered tools to analyze codebases and production datasets
